The Construction Skill Certification Scheme is launched by the CITB in the mid-1990s in order to reduce the increasing number of accidents. This card shows that a worker or the employee is fully competent and proficient in the construction site work. This gives the client a sort of loyalty and trust. The CSCS card is required for working in the construction sector in the UK. Now, these cards are demanded by most of the employers nationwide. Though these are not the legal requirement, but the companies prefer the workers with CSCS certification. The scheme provides a variety of cards which are coded with a different colour for various purposes.
What is the white/grey CSCS Card?
White / Grey CSCS Card includes all the other construction-related occupations, which are not covered in any of the cards. The cards show the possessor’s occupation. The CRO cart is only valid up to 30th September 2017.
Information:
- Before your card expires, from 1st October 2015, a person must be registered for a nationally recognized construction-related construction recognized qualification.
- The single occupation will be displayed on the CRO card.
- No CRO cards will be issued by the CSCS from 31st March 2017.
- The candidates should qualify the CITB Health, safety, and environment test.

Who needs this card?
The card is issued to those people who work often alongside the construction workers but still do not fit under any of the categories and do not qualify for the different CSCS card. There are a few mandatory pre-requisites for this card. Those who have to work in the construction company should get this card issued. Working without a CSCS card in the UK is quite difficult or can be considered as impossible in the coming future. This card is required to show the competence of un-carded workers on the construction site.

Once you get this card, you can work in the construction sector but if you feel that this card is not appropriate and getting some other type of CSCS certification is the requirement, then you may lead to new opportunities. Before giving the CSCS test, you should qualify the Health, Safety and Environment Test first. After successfully qualifying the test, CRO CSCS card will be issued to you. The card will be having the full name along with the designation and expertise you have achieved.
The card is valid for a time period of 5 years and on submitting an application it can be renewed. To renew the card, one should re-sit in the Health, Safety and Environment Test after renewal. Only after passing the exam, the renewed card will be allotted to you.
